The next set of twins Ben separated where Luke and Joseph Banda of Zambia in 1997. He was able to use a 3-D visual imaging system to “see” inside the boy's head. The team was able to study and memorize the blood vessels that needed to be cut out, which was an incredible advantage. Also, unlike the Makwaeba sisters, the boys were completely healthy and all of their organs functioned independently. After the 25 hour surgery, the boys experienced little blood loss and no swelling. The operation was deemed successful.
